Farm Kit is a starter development package for agricultural simulation games. It includes a map generator, environmental simulation and a set of pre-generated tools and content to experiment with. These can then be altered, copied and built upon to create a more complex simulation or brought over into other projects.
I used Qubicle to create the 3d models for FarmKit.
I created a tool so that Developers can configure their own crops to make their own game.
I used a Minecraft inspired cube theme which worked well to simplify the core game mechanics. Everything exists on a "Block" object which handles its own loop. It uses arcade style game mechanics to grow and wilt crops if they are not in the right conditions, and separate livestock from crops using fences.
While the demo map was hand-made, I created a procedural map generator for players to quickly make their own maps.
I collaborated with a team of QA testers to test the product before launch. This was done on Github Issue Tracker.
I wrote 3 Booklets with Around 40 pages of documentation in total and a tutorial video for this asset. It contains a help tutorial to implement 3rd party assets as that would be a common occurence for developers using this asset.
Farm Kit did not receive as much sales as anticipated due to supply/demand so the project was abandoned.
